Setup HotSpot using wired connections only

The ISP I work for wishes to setup a HotSpot that uses Ethernet connections only. We have many wireless HotSpots going OK but this one site cant run wireless because of the concrete building environment.

All the examples and spec sheets seem to cover setting up a wireless HotSpot only. Therefore does anyone know what to configure differently on a router to use Ethernet connections only. Your help would be appreciated here.

Very simple, just ensure that your

  • ip address
  • dhcp client
  • hotspot server

are all attached to an ethernet interface rather than a wireless one.
How you go about connecting up the rest of it from there is up to you. My company normally uses managed switches vlan’d off so clients can’t see each other but can only get back to the mikrotik for internet access (for intranet security).
