Setup Sugestion - Replicate over 50 units of an franchising restaurant.

Hi All,

This is my first post and I humbly came here to have your opinion. I already read some treads related, but I need to replicate this setup over 50 units of an franchising restaurant.

Follow below the topology that I’d like your comments.

I am NOT worried about the mikrotik config at the moment. I am concerning your opinions first before CLI configuration.

Scenario:

  1. This is a restaurant (100 people capacity) where people will have free internet access.
  2. In order to get connected; clients are redirected to an external portal for voucher authetication + data capturing.
  3. First name, mail, mobile number and printed voucher are required in order to have free internet access.
  4. We will NOT use Mikrotik hotspot feature. We will have Unifi + PHP Server from Amazon doing the work.
  5. Two SSIDs to distinguish Admin and Client Network. Network isolation is required.
  6. Waiters will place orders via mobile Android tablets and they’ll be printed on Bar or Kitchen.
  7. Billing PC is running the maganement program (Table, Order, Bill and so forth).
  8. Security have to be taken into account without high complexity implementation.

Some things to consider…

  1. Why use the cheapest routerboard to run the restaurant?
  2. Where will you plug in more devices (additional APs, cameras, etc)?
  3. A device that can remotely reboot equipment is very handy. A device that can reboot your modem when it locks up is even better (ping test to internet).
  4. Restaurants are hard on comm equipment. What kind of enclosure will you use to house all of these devices?
  5. What are the local censorship preferences? Will it be a problem having customers surfing porn/pictures of Mohammed/bittorrent?
  6. Where is the UPS?
  7. How will you deal with frequency congestion/rogue APs?

What about 5 GHz ?
Only one Internet provider ?
What about High Availability ? Any “spare” device ?
What about roaming for WiFi when waiters move around restaurant ?
Where is the user voucher printer ?
