Hello Mates,
I am here again with new questions,
Q. how to setup a wireless router with mikrotik? router is nearly about 400 meters away from my system and attached with wire using switch.

More info. What do you want to do? If you give two interfaces ip’s it is set up for routing or maybe bridge the two interfaces and you don’t even have to give ip’s.

In pic red line means wire, which is connected with my server and second place is my office where my router is installed.
Me and my partner we both have wifi mobiles and laptop’s too. i want to use this router to connect my 6 logins.
4 mobiles and 2 laptops.
i am here to know that How to do with settings to use it’s wifi connectivity?

1. where on the map will be the wireless clients? I understand that the “mikrotik system” is the access point?
2. what devices will be used on the client end as wireless stations? direct laptop cards, or some routers to connect to the AP?
3. what is that “wireless router”?
4. what hardware do you have available? do you have a mikrotik device? what model ?

1 . no it’s a mikrotik installed pc , which is connected with cat5 ethernet cable.
2. yes we will use our laptop cards direct.
3. it’s Linksys Wireless-N Broadband Router WRT160N.
4. no i don’t have any mikrotik device because i didn’t find any mikrotik device here in my market but interested to have them.

so what do you want to do exactly? you want to make a wireless access point based on MikroTik RouterOS?

if the clients are laptops, the distance you can reach is 100m maximum in city conditions.

Yes i want same as you said (as checking because after it i want to make my own wireless setup to cover 1Km 360*)
i know it’s range because it is enough for my office area.

in the mikrotik system you need to install a wireless card, and RouterOS v5.2 with License level 4. Then configure it as an access point. You will need to have an omni antenna with a high gain to reach such distances, but your laptop antennas are very small and weak, so it will still be problematic to reach more than 100-200m from the latops, no matter what you have as the AP.

Is it required for my current setting or it’s for 1Km ?
i want to use it in my office only yet. cover more area in up coming days not now and i will consult here first with my member buddies when go to purchase equipments.
