SFP+ compatibility & SFP modules which used to work, not working any more :(

Hello,

Two maybe three years ago I used 10Gtek ASF-GE-T 1G SFP+ to RJ45 modules in my CRS317. That worked, however with todays software …. I can not use them any more.

Another issue, I am usung HiFiber 10Gb/s SFP+ RJ45 Transceivers based on a Marvell 113C chip. Those modules are supporting 1G;2,5G;5G and 10G However the switch says that they support only 1G baseX and
10G baseSR LR. Indicated transmission rate is 10G which can not be true since the order side does not support that speed.

So I do not know the cause of these problems ….. but I do not like it :frowning:

If work, do not fix it.
Put back previous software...
And contact MikroTik support.

For the HiFiber device, that is likely expected behavior.

The backend of the SFP+ device will run at only 10G or 1G.
However, it will connect on the ethernet side at the 1G, 2.5G,5G, 10G rates depending on cable quality, and what the other end supports.

I believe (at least some of these type devices) use ethernet flow control to pause data from the Mikrotik out through the SFP, when the ethernet rate is < backend rate.
eg. 2.5G ethernet and 10G backend.
