SFP copper modules not working

Hi guys,

I just bought a new CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS to replace my old HEX S which has become too small for my network. I also bought some 1G copper SFP modules to be able to connect to my “old” Cisco SG350/SG220 switches which I am using for my local home network. I set everything up but had no success connecting the CCR2004 to those switches. Also, when I try to connect to an old no-name 1G switch it also doesn’t work. The ACT LED on the ports does not turn on when I don’t change the port setup. If I disable auto-negotiation and set the port to 1G/full duplex mode as suggested in some forums the ACT LED lights up but there is no traffic going back and forth between the two devices. The Cisco switches as well as the Mikrotik show there is outgoing traffic on the port but neither shows any received packets/bytes. This is the same on all sfp ports on the device that I tested on (half of the ports roughly).
After some playing around I tought maybe auto MDI/MDIX does not work and tried an old cross over cable I had still lying around but that didn’t help also.

The two SFP modules I used were:

(sorry, German Amazon page - but the technical details should be readable I guess)

I have ordered a couple of other ones (different brands) which should probably arrive tomorrow.
Maybe in the meantime somebody has an idea what the actual problem might be?

Best,
Tobi

Check this page.

Not tested by Mikrotik.

Thanks. I had seen that page before and was relying on the top note which says

Note: MikroTik devices and SFP/SFP+/SFP28/QSFP+/QSFP28 modules do not have any restrictions for other vendor equipment. As long as the other vendor modules and devices comply with transceiver multi-source agreement (MSA) they should be compatible with MikroTik.

So the CCR2004 seems picky about its transceivers.. I have also ordered a genuine Mikrotik S-RJ01 and will try that as soon as it arrives.

Important part retaken.
“They should be” does not always mean “It will be”
