Hello,
On one of my locations we will finally get optical fibers.. can anyone tell me what SFP module would work with Mikrotik router if ISP is using GPON - ONT? I saw that mikrotik had a GPON module but is now discontinued?
Usually the ISP provides a gpon device, which Is essentially a device that converts from optional fiber to "plain" ethernet, in some cases It Is only a converter, in other ones It Is a router.
You want instead to use your own Mikrotik device directly connected to the fiber?
If yes you want a router like the RB5009 ( that has a SFP cage) and a suitable optical SFP module.
Details depend on the specific ISP, the kind of connection they provide, if they lock the connection to a given MAC or require a particular SFP, etc.
I curentlly use RB4011(WiFi) and for over 6 years i don’t use my ISP router but took out the sfp module from it (Iskratel innboxx v60) and pluged it into my RB4011.. but this is not GPON. On one of my locations i did not yet have optical network but we had microlink with cube pro…
Now they are building optical networks and i can apply to get it.. the installer said that it has to be GPON ONT device. Now my question is witch SFP module is comparible for mikrotik or what GPON ONT converter is recomanded?
I've been using an old Alcatel/Nokia G-010S-P for years without issues, it went through many RouterOS upgrades, with 2.5Gbps rate (Speed manually set to 2.5G baseX). The G-010S-A should also be similar. Both are quite old though. My stick was manufactured in 2017 and I bought it used. And on that site, it's written that the G-010S-P firmware is interchangeable with this FS.com stick, and this Huawei one, so probably the hardwares are similar and those work too.
This ODI DFP-34X-2C2 should also be compatible and is known to work with MikroTik devices.
