SFP Interfaces

Hello,

I am using a CRS212 with two uplinks to a CRS226,

I am using a S-31DLC20D on both sides from the CRS212 to the CRS226 SFP+ 1.

Based the SFP comparability matrix; http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/MikroTik_SFP_module_compatibility_table the S-31DLC20D are not compatible with the CRS226 SFP+ 2 port.

I am going to purchase S+85DLC03D to use on the CRS226 SFP+ 2 port, with this work when connected to the CRS212 via S-31DLC20D?

Thank you.

You should use similar SFP modules on both ends of optical link. These modules are very different, S+85DLC03D is 10Gbps 850nm multi mode, S-31DLC20D is 1.25Gbps 1310nm single mode.

This is an old question about whether a SFP module can work on the SFP+ port. The answer is “in most cases, SFP Can be Plugged into SFP+ Ports”, but you have to configure the interface before inserting the SFP. Sometimes you have to tell the switch/router vendors that the port is going to run at 1000 megabit before you insert the SFP..

Nice article. please see: http://opticalfiberalsa.over-blog.com/2016/09/sfp-and-sfp-compatibility-issues.html

Hope it helps!

That’s right, same wavelength and datarate can be communicated, so you should use the same one model on both slots.
