I ordered a couple 40Km SFP+ 1550nm modules from fs.com. This model http://www.fs.com/products/11592.html
I have two CCR1016’s here that I am testing. The SFP modules do show info, however no link is established using the SFP+ ports. I have tried no auto negoitation on both sides, 1Gb, 10GB, flow control on and off however no link is activated.
The normal 10Gbps SFP+ i.e this model works in the SFP+ ports http://www.fs.com/products/29851.html. So I know those ports are “working”.
However the 10Gbps SFP+ 40Km SFP’s do work at 1Gbps in the normal 1016 SFP slots.
Any ideas? Maybe Mikrotik needs to add support for these models?
Just a note to say that using the new RC versions there is a command
/interface ethernet monitor “interface”
This showed me that these models were being recognized as DWDM-SFP - which apparently is not supported on Mikrotik. I am going to RMA them to configure a LR SFP tag on them in order to work.
Basically from what I can understand from fibrestore is that these should have been programmed as ER and not DWDM, so fault is on their side. Strange one though.
SFP+ PHY has its own firmware that may not like these modules, for regular SFPs there are no such thing. To answer exactly why it works in one slot and not in another then we need exact modules to test and investigate.
