SFP port Doesn't work on CCR2004

Hello For all..

So I connected the SFP port in CCR2004 with My new CRS326 SFP but the connection doesn’t work..
is there is any thing that I have to change in the configuration between two devices in order to work..?

here is a photo for the SFP that I used..

Winbox:

Perhaps under ethernet tab for sfp, turn off auto negotiation and set speed to 1G Base X
at both ends.

Make sure fibre is correct, (looks to need single mode fibre)

yes my fiber patch cord is a single mode and the connection still doesn’t work after I did what you mention.

In the Switch side the TX Power is -7.146dBm and the RX Power is -40.000dBm
and the Router side the TX Power is -5.738 and the RX Power is -40.000dBM

Is it mandatory to use a MikroTik SFP in order for the connection to work?

Not that I know of.

You could try to loop the interface to see if you get a proper RX/TX. When using singlemode make sure that the cable is at least 2 meter of length and you can wrap it up along a pen to make the attenuation higher.

It could be a faulty transceiver, bad cable or dirty RX/TX on the transceiver.

Do you have some other box to verify that the transceiver itself works as its supposed to?

The Rx power at -40dBm indicates that additional attenuation is absolutely not needed. The Rx number might be bogus if SFPs are not properly supported by ROS. But if Rx number is real one, then this indicates big problems with connection … either broken fiber strands inside cable (both as both directions indicate same low value) or very dirty connector joints (either cable or SFP or both) on either or both ends.

The fiber patch cord is okay and very clean. The only thing I am skeptical about is the SFP. Is it compatible with MikroTik?

Probably not (entirely). ROS support for SFP modules is very incomplete and fragile, only a handfull of 3rd party modules were tested to work with ROS ever. And even own MT’s modules may not work without any issues with MT’s own devices, just have a look at official wired interface compatibility list.

Yes there have been many many sfp fixes, and complaints of devices
that used to work that no longer do.

You could get install the latest betas at both ends (including updating routerboot), and assuming it is still not working
create a supout.rif and send to support at mikrotik.com

The -40db is a worry, One extremely unlikely possibility:

Are the fibre sections all crossover (very likely they will be)
Is there an odd number of fibre sections/links between the 2 routers.
