SFP+ S+31DLC10D Compatability in Rwanda

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and I am hoping you can help me.

We have an ISP (Liquid Telecom) to our office in Rwanda. They have supplied a router (Alcatel I-240W-A) https://fccid.io/2ADZRI240WA/User-Manual/User-Manual-2679109.pdf
This is very much insufficient for our needs of 50+ users, wireless printing etc.

So we have been recommended by our IT support to get this great looking MicroTik router and we are keen to go for it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mikrotik-RB4011IGS-5HACQ2HND-IN-RB4011iGS-5HacQ2HnD-IN/dp/B07HBR5219/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=RB4011iGS%2B5HacQ2HnD-IN&qid=1573476021&sr=8-1
We have also been recommended to use this along with the SFP+ module: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mikrotik-S-31DLC10D-WH3-MikroTik-31DLC10D/dp/B00I4QGNZI

My concern is that the ISP fibre optic cable is only a single connector for both input+output.

But the SFP+ module has two connectors (Dual LC UPC) looking at it it appears that one is for input and the other for output. Is this correct?

Will the MicroTik router and SFP+ module be able to be configured to use a single connector for input+output or is this incompatible with our ISP connection right from the start? I have attached a photo of our current router and the fibre optic connection for reference.

The ISP terminates its service to the supplied router (Alcatel I-240W-A) over passive optical technology (GPON)
SFP+ module S+31DLC10D will not work, is not compatible, you need O-010S-P SFP module assuming ISP will authorise it and will help to set it up.

Officially RB4011 does not support GPON modules although some users got them to work. I think it is just simplier to setup I-240W-A in the bridge mode(if supported) or turn off all non-essential services(including wifi) and use it as internet gateway for the RB4011.

Thank you very much for your reply. Sounds like I could be asking for trouble if I use the RB4011 even if I tried out the GPON O-010S-P SFP module.
The ISP here, Liquid Telecom, is also very unresponsive to helping and providing support. So I want to keep things as simple as possible for them.

Unfortunately the Alcatel router does not support bridge mode. Our IT support have tried to configure it and failed. It seems to not have many features and the number of users is confusing it and the wireless printer sent it over the edge!

Setting it up the Alcatel as a simple internet gateway sounds like an interesting option - but not sure if the wireless printer will work out then. I will ask our IT support and see what he comes up with. Otherwise do you know of any other MicroTek routers that would support GPON modules?

Murakose cyane (thank you very much)
