I have a Huawei MA5671A SFP ONT module installed in CCR2004. In previous 7.x RouterOS versions it was working flawlessly and even read all the status fields like working temperature and Tx Power. I can’t remember when, but somewhere around 7.12 (when I was more concerned about a working Qcom Capsman server and wasn’t looking elsewhere) I missed when exactly, first all the fields went blank, which wasn’t critical, but still very sad as both temperature (the thing can be very hot) and power level were much needed for monitoring.
Then I noticed random disconnects of the sfp port. Strangely when it happens, both sfp’s die at once, second module being Mikrotik S-53LC20D.
Worst thing, when sfp's disconnect, this is never fixed by soft reboot, and strangely power cycling bring random results - it either works or not on powering the router and you can’t do anything remotely when it doesn’t, which is most annoying as the device is too far away and watchdog does nothing as it’s also just soft rebooting.
I saw some hopeful news in the changelog of 7.21beta
- sfp - improved system stability with some GPON modules for CRS418, CCR2004 and CCR2116 devices;
but I’m too scared to rush to it too early.
Can anyone confirm similar behavior? All the topics I found on this forum about these modules are 5-7 years old, so that information is probably not actual.
