Hello
I am using queues and they are working fine.
I do see about 5ms extra latency to on my lan an a tad more jitter (not much)
Is that a normal side effect to shaping?
Thanks

Jitter is a term used to talk about wireless signal. I’m not sure I understand what you are asking.

I was meaning can be 5ms then 10ms, then 5ms etc
With queues off its 1ms

Sounds like the queue is being hit therefore delaying the packets.
Jitter can also be exhibited in any lan enviroment both wireless and wired. Essentially it is measured according to a “buffer/grace” period. Anything that exceeds this buffer period is considered as being jitter. (I.e a packet that arrives out of the expected time slot)
As for the 5ms increment in latency with queues activated, hmm; not normal in my books. What ros version are you using and what are ram, cpu specs for your router. and if normal pc it might just be the lan card. ![]()
