Share printer to Hotspot User

Hi

I have a little trouble with one printer, well the printer are connected via USB to one PC and this PC1 are sharing the printer to hotspot network but the others pc can’t print without login before to the hotspot.

So, I need that all can print, no matter this or no logged in. I tried with IP Binding “By passed” but not working for me because I need the login page.

Please, can anybody help me with this?

Best regard.

Leave

/ip hotspot ip-binding

for the printer.

Add

/ip hotspot walled-garden ip add dst-address=IP_address of the printer

walled-garden rule is necessary, that all users can reach that IP address without HotSpot login.

I have a similar case, i am using hotspot and i want certain hotspot users to be able to print from a printer that is shared on an hotspot user's system. All the users are assigned ip from 192.168.16.1/21 network. Whenever i try, it works immediately but after some minutes it stops working. Could it have something to do with my DHCP lease time?

[admin@MikroTik] /ip> address print
Flags: X - disabled, I - invalid, D - dynamic

ADDRESS NETWORK BROADCAST INTERFACE

0 41.194.12.85/29 41.194.12.80 41.194.12.87 INTERNE
1 192.168.16.1/21 192.168.16.0 192.168.23.255 LAN

Add entry to /ip hotspot walled-garden ip,
that will allow access to the printer for certain users.

Hi, at last someone has responded! thanks a lot @ sergejs. Though i have not tried this cos i am out of the country right now, i will try it out as soon as i get back to the country next week. Hmmm… will i add the ip of the system that is sharing the printer or ips of specific users? pls note that the system is on DHCP; after the addresses expires and a new address is assigned, will they not lose connection again?

Thanks in advance.

I use HP jet directs on the printers..

No sharing needed and so more sucure work stations…

The walled gerden solution sould work fine… also, use static / reserved addresses for the jet direct cards.

I think there is an option in DHCP (windows) for the defait printer and IP ?? (if I am not loosing my mind)..
should be able to specify it by option number in RouterOS and pass the param / IP for the shared printer.
look into that as it may make you life easyer..
