I have a question regarding weather it is better to ground a shielded CAT5 cable at the bottom of a tower and use regular RJ45 ends, or use the shielded RJ45 ends with no grounding.
It does not matter as long as it is grounded somehow. Pay attention not to ground on both ends of the cable.
It is best grounded at the bottom.
And yes it does matter, according to proper code.
Your grounding point should be as close to true ground as possible.
Is that with or without the grounded/shielded RJ45 ends?
