Short Range - High Bandwidth Backhaul

Been watching some discussions about various bonding or other techniques to get some pretty decent backhauls created.

I want to start on a really short link. <1 mile

I am looking specific suggestions for this could with a hardware list to put it together right away. Dont know if it matters but will need to allow for a redundant path to a second tower with similar bandwidth capabilities.

Any specific list of all the Pieces would be most helpful!!

How much bandwidth ?

30 to 60Mbit

Currently has 20Mbit Tranzeo that we have outgrown. 30 needed right away with growth to 60’ish MBit

i didn’t really like nstreme dual for this type of situation so i bonded 3 wireless links together to get a cumulitive amount of 160megabits. i’m using 6 rb333 boards for the wireless bridges, 6 r52 wireless cards, 2 rb600 boards to do the bonding. i’m running 3.x on all the units, nstreme turned on, csma disabled, 40mhz bands on the wireless for max throughput. for antennas i’m using hyperlink 5.4 grids http://www.hyperlinktech.com/productfamily.aspx?id=109 . hope this helps.

1 link using rb333 or rb450 and r52 wireless cards will get you cumulitive of 54megabits using a 40mhz band.

Looking at your first post, I am thinking that the reason you use seperate RB333 boards for each radio is for maximum throughput through the board.

On your second post, you mention using an RB450, but they have no slots for cards?

I finally got a chance to try this today. Two 433 boards each with one R52 card. connected indoors.

Tried the basic way I know how to connect these. AP Bridge and WDS Slave. in 40Mhz channel got 22Mbit only throughput (about the same upload and download).

Tried lots of other options, but never got past this 22 mbit.

How do I get the 54 Megabit speed you describe?

54mbit air rate half dupe, amounts to ~22mbit full dupe data rate using 20meg channels.
You can accomplish the same using 411s instead of 433.

So I recommend 3x 411a, 3x 411, 2x 600, and 6 r52s.
should net you 66mb/s full dupe, 132mb/s half dupe.

your speedtest which resulted in your 22mb/s results should be done from pc to pc through the link, and not from rb to rb.

theoretically if you use 40meg channels you can double up over the numbers I gave.
