hello everyone.
I am going to build a ROS system, use ROS V5.2, AMD X4 core CPU,
the problem is should I buy 1G memory or 2G ??
or maybe I should ask what’s the maximum memory ROS used??
some body told me ROS never use over 1G memory!
thanks

It depends on what the router is going to do. RouterOS can use 1.5GB. Few routers need that much.
What is your router going to be doing?
Please suggest.
Mikrotik x86 version install on 3.6ghz dual, 2 GB ram, 320 GB HDD, This MT will serve as a VPN Server + Bandwidth Shaping + http 80 route to squid server with external radius server (dmasoftlab) for about 1000 concurrent connections. Will MT handle 1000-1200 concurrent users with bandwidth shaping smoothly ?
One Mikrotik RB750 to merge /combine 4 dsl lines (8 MB each) via pcc or pre traffic base shaping . Will RB750 will work smoothly ? i heared rb750 gets hot and process gets very high when using in load conditions?
1875.6 Free Memory
1897.8 Total Memory
That is the maximum RAM that RouterOS will use.
That said, most routing applications won't need anything near that. But memory is cheap so why not go 2GB?
Tom
We have 6GB in a Core i7 system just for the triple channel bandwidth. On the AMD side of things you want to have at least two sticks of RAM, but as Roc-noc says, you’ll never use 2GB.
