Signal Strength?

I have a point-to-point link setup using the following at each end:

29db Dual Pol Pacwireless Antennas
RB600
2x R52H running Nstream Dual

Unit-1 is connected to the antenna by 2x 1 metre LMR-600 terminated with Telegartner N-Connectors
Unit-2 is connected to the antenna by 2x 8 metre LMR-600 terminated with Telegartner N-Connectors

Each unit is on a 4 story building, and is up a 5metre 70mm dia pole with 20mm stays.

The link distance is 575 metres.

I am getting -48 on the TX and -51 on the RX.

I assume since the signal’s are so close on the TX and RX that the aim is spot on.

Do these signal levels sound right for a link of this short distance ?

You should have a lot more signal…but not recommended!

Yes, I thought that with high gain antennas such as these on such a short link I should have significantly better results.

What do you mean by “not recommended” ?

an optimum signal is between -60 and -65.

Do you think the fact that we coiled the coax due to it being too long is affecting the signal level ??

Attached are pics of the end with the longer coax.

I ran the Mikrotik link calculator and it says we should be getting around -34 signal.

I will turn down the xmit power once we have the optimum signal level to keep it around the -60 mark.

I have -45 at 1.3km with 50mW and 22dBi antennas(2.4Ghz). Pigtails are only 2meters.
