Signal Strengths @ AP

I have an AP running a RouterBoard 532, MikroTik OS v.2.9.46 and an XR-2 2.4GHz radio card. My CPE’s run the RouterBoard 133 or 112, MikroTik OS v 2.9.XX and the XR-2 2.4GHz radio cards. The signal strengths that my AP sees from its clients range from a -47dbm to a -79dbm. Some clients get better upload speed than others. I was wondering if this wide variation in signal strengths that my AP sees is the reason for the wide variation in upload speeds. Would it run better if I manually adjusted all my clients power levels so that the AP sees everyone pretty close to even, say so they are all in the -70’s db?

That was my plan. I’d love to hear input from someone that has tried it.

Gotta figure if one CPE is at -45 and the other at -75, its bound to cause problems.
