SIGWATCH on RB112 - again...

Hello!

For some reason, nobody seems willing to answer questions about the availability of the SIGWATCH tool on MIPS-Routerboards…

I definitely NEED this feature for battery status monitoring, but it seems to be available only on PC (Intel) platforms - is that so?

Is there really no way to get the RS232-Pin-Status on the RB112?

Thanks for replies - please post some! anything! Really!!

as this is your first post here, it is no wonder that nobody has answered you before.

yes, it is missing in MIPS because of certain limitations. we are not able to add it.

Yea, right. I do read foreign posts too, however…

Anyway, thanks for your answer!

is this a limitation on rb112 oder on the complete mips paltform ?
or why dont you just support simple ups monitoring
that would at least give 2 signal states “ups on battery” and “low battery”

what do you mean we don’t? we do support UPS monitoring:
http://www.mikrotik.com/docs/ros/2.9/system/ups

but only “smart ups” are supported not the old ones wich only had a sort of “sigwatch” output
and there is no need to power a routerboard with at least a 700VA ups wich is the smalles APC product supporting serial smart protokol !!
tha produces only heat and wastes battery energy
i would be much mor usefull to have a small powersupply that has a little ups functionallity implemented (like “Mean Well AD-55A” ) an then monitor the voltage level or even use the error signal output from that device - which is logically up or down …

AFAIK you could connect it to handshaking pins on the serial port (simple level conversion probably needed) and use a script to report the value (1:0)
