He looses the SIM card: “SIM not inserted”. Reboot or diable/enable LTE interface doesn’t solve the issue.
I have to plug off the power adapter and wait 1-2 hours then after plugin it works for 2- 16 hours and then the issue happens again.
Even the most actual firmware 7.15.3 makes not difference.
How can i find out the root cause? Sim card problem or hardware problem? Any hint is appreciated? Are there any logs?
Not necessarily your case, and not Mikrotik specific, a number of devices using the “new”, “smarter” SIM slots have issues with contacts, a trick that is often used is to put a piece of sticky tape on the back of the SIM card, to make it a little bit thicker, and if you leave it a bit longer it is also useful to remove the SIM card as a pull tab.
Since it costs nothing, it is worth try.
I’m facing a very similar issue with my RBSXTR, it keeps showing “SIM not inserted” randomly, and rebooting or toggling LTE doesn’t help. Even the latest firmware didn’t fix it. I’m not sure if it’s the SIM number or hardware problem. Would love to know if there’s a way to check logs or test the root cause. Any advice would be really appreciated!
Have you ever tried the trick with a piece of tape ?
Put a piece on the non conductive side. It makes the SIM just a tiny bit thicker which might result in better contact.
Also, if you make the tape a bit longer, it also helps to remove the SIM easier.
I used it on SXT LTE when it was in use ( boxed now for potential later use).
