Simple Client

Good afternoon folks, kind of a n00b here. I have a routerboard and routerOS installed with a level 4 license. What I want to do is simply use it as a “dumb” client on an existing wireless network and plug one single computer into the routerboard. I have the routerboard mounted in an outside case with a directional antenna. I have gotten as far as being able to ping the remote access point (Non RouterOS) but can’t seem to get it to “pass” the signal on to the ethernet port..

Can someone help me out? I’m sure it’s just some silly little thing that I’m missing

do you mean .how to configure your routerbord to be as hotsopt client? or something else?

Yes, I think that is what I mean, just a simple hotspot client. I bought this so I could use the router outside and run POE rather than run a horribly long RF cable. I basically want it to work as if it was a wifi card in my computer.

Sorry if I’m not making much sense, I’m not sure how to describe what i want to do.

Thanks!

just syudy this subject>>>>>>..http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Wireless_AP_Client

dont forget to give me a karma

This seems to cover routerboard to another routerboard, I want to use routerboard on my end and something else as the remote AP… I tried the settings on that page and it does not work. I can ping outside addresses from the router, but not from the computer.

I think what Corynick needs is Mikrotik as bridge client, so he does not have to set routing but simply plug in computer into it and it is on net.

Corynick if that is what you need, you have to use bridge. I have tried to use that in a past and I was not happy how it worked. So basicaly I gave up using Mikrotik as wireless bridge.

But that was long time ago, maybe they fixed bridging in meantime so you may try. Basicaly, create a bridge, put wireless interface and lan interface into bridge. You will fin bridging prerry good explained in manual.
