Simple Hotspot Setup

Guys,

I really really need your help to setup my hotspot.

I followed all the steps to config the hotspot, but i alway have 1 problem or the other along theway.

First, I started with /ip hotspot setup thru the terminal (completed for testing) when i try to open a webpage i could not get the hotspot page display for login or webpage to browse, but open an empty page. i also could not have access to the box thru winbox nor ping the box ip address via the local interface.

Please guys, if there is a way any out there could help me with his text file of the setting or working setup (hotspot) that i would paste then re-edit, i would have love it.

I really need your help guys…

I would disable/remove the hotspot until you get the localnet working.

Insure you have

  1. all ip addresses/netmasks assigned in “/ip address”.
  2. a default route assigned in “/ip route”.
  3. a masquerade or srcnat in “/ip firewall nat”.
  4. correct settings in “/ip dns”, including “allow-remote-requests=yes”.
  5. a dhcp server set up on the interface. “/ip dhcp-server setup” if not.

When you can surf the net without the hotspot enabled, then enable it. If it still fails to work, then remove that hotspot and install a new one on that interface using “/ip hotspot setup”. If all is not enter-enter-enter after that, something is wrong.

Thank you for the support, but i did all the steps you stated… I will try again and i will update you soon.

Thanks but need more support guys

So your localnet works fine without the hotspot enabled? Good! That eliminates a lot of challenges.
I use “/ip hotspot setup” to set up my hotspots. Presuming you did also, what did you enter when prompted for “masquerade network?”, and “security certificate”? My answers (if the localnet is working) would be “no” and “none”. ADD: …and all the other prompts had the correct default?

If you are still having problems, please post your “/ip hotspot profile”.

Thanks for the support man! what i am thinking is that i am using the box offline (i.e.) i did not connect it to the modem via the Internet interface…

I will connect it and see if i will be able to get the login page on the browser.

That should do it. The hotspot needs dns resolution to work correctly.

okay, thanks

please if it works, how can i generate multiple username (i.e.) generate air time/tickets in a single A4 paper? there was a time i tried it and i just got 3 tickects on an A4 paper which is not good.
