Hello everyone,
as the title, my doubt is what configuration I have to use.
Years ago I passed to the PCQ, because the simple queue gave problems; from the v.6 on, with various arrangements, it seems that it is even better to use simple. In fact, the laboratory tests seem to confirm. Among other things, assigning public IP via sql_ippool, I do not know a / 29 allocated, as would be administered by the PCQ. So the question is: in the performance aspect, which is the best solution? From your personal experience, what are the results?
I think you mean simple queue or queue tree, since it is possible to use PCQ with either.
I use both for different purposes - queue tree for prioritization over congested links, simple queues for rate-limiting customers based on IP address or subnet.
You’re right, I have to explain better. I meant the rate-limiting for pppoe client.
Today my configuration provides that, authentication and assignment of IP is made by radius server; the radius also divide users into different address-list.
The address-list is used to assign a profile using mangle, PCQ and Queue Tree.
The alternative is to use Mikrotik-Rate-Limit, assigning a simple queue for the customer automatically. So the question was: what is the difference, in terms of performancebetween PCQ + queue tree or simple queue and simple queue in automatic from Mikrotik-Rate-Limit?
For the purpose of rate limiting PPPoE, I would use dynamic simple queues.
