Simple Queue Problem from 2.7 to 2.8 Upgrade

I recently upgraded from 2.7 to 2.8. I had simple queues set for limiting up and download by IP.

After the upgrade I am having problems adding new simple queues. They simply don’t work. All of my original queues that were added in 2.7 work fine. I set the new simple queues up exactly like the ones from 2.7 and they still don’t work.

Also all of the queues when I was running 2.7 would show up in the queue tree and show the counters. All of them are gone now.

Thanks in advance,
Chad

Please see the manual to learn the new syntax of the simple queues - they have become bidirectional and because of that to make less confision src-address has been renamed to target-address (think of it like of limitation target of your rule). Almost all the limits now accept two numbers simultaneously.

That should be so. See counters directly within the simple queue menu

I have been over the manual and understand the new way of doing simple queues. But for some reason the new ones that I add do not work. I can even copy one of the old ones that work and change the name an IP and it still doesn’t work.

Is there somewhere else that I should be looking for the problem?
Thanks,
Chad

Maybe the queues placed before the new one are overtaking all the traffic? Try placing the new rule at the first (#0) place, and also chech that you do not have any tree queues enabled.

lastguru, thanks for the reply. You are awesome. I added a new queue and moved it to #0 and it worked perfect.

I also deleted some of the queues that I had for some interfaces that I didn’t need. Now all of them work.

So what was the actual problem?
Thanks,
Chad
