Hi everyone! I am new to MikroTik and I have very simple task for it. But I hope this thread will be usefull for others and, if possible, will compose all useful tips and advice concerning SIMPLE QUEUES that come from experience and are not observed in FAQs.
Question 1. Which is the desired configuration for 10-50-100 users to limit bandwidth via IP (type, size of queue, …)?
Question 2. How parent queues are better made (type, size of queue, interfaces or all…)?
Question 3. Any tips for using bridge on WAN(eth1)+Lan4(eht5, for example).
This may seem any easy task for a pro or linux-aware guys, but it does not show stable work been configured intuitively.
And I ask that’s why:
I have WAN(eth1), NAT(eth2), 15 simple queues configured, worked fine.
Made a bridge WAN(eth1)+Lan4(eht5) for my ISP to see users on eth5 to assign them real IPs. Marked rx/tx packets from real IPs on eth5 to limit bandwidth via real IPs. Worked fine and I was happy and became a MikroTik Fan
.
Did nothing! for a while (power might have disappeared for a couple of times), but suddenly discovered, that no Graphing is available for all the queues except the parent one. Google advised to change default-small type of queue to default (with bigger amount of packets). Did that. Now only part of Rx traffic is seen in queues and graphs. Interfaces and bridge yet show all of rt/tx.
What I did to MAKE IT WORK:
in all queues set All as interface. Yet works, will notify if anything changes.
Do I miss something or do something wrong, but I don’t believe is mystics in network building ![]()
Please feel free to note every tip or idea to make the thread as useful as possible.
