Hi dear community!
I am new with mikrotik boards but I already have read lot of tutorials and play arround with RouterOS.
I have a question/task which is maybe really simple for someone who knows all about RouterOS… so I hope someone can help me here…
Now I’ll try to explain the target I need to realize with mikrotik:
Create Wifi Hotspot without Password/Authentification
only using for iOS, Android and Windows mobile devices (is not needed to check, only for your information)
Automatic popup/captive window after connect to the HS (each time you connect to this HS)
with just one button click or maybe automatic redirect to a IP connected to lan port of mikrotik
this redirected page has to be opened in native webbrowser (Safari, Chrome,.. ) not on “lightweight login Browser window”
all other domains/IP are denied
whole network won’t have internet connection
Can anyone help me realize this? I have tried some possibilites but nothing will fully work on iOS and Android…
It would be very nice if you can share your hints, tutorials, …
Automatic popup/captive window after connect to the HS (each time you connect to this HS)
This is standard, but …
this redirected page has to be opened in native webbrowser (Safari, Chrome,.. ) not on “lightweight login Browser window”
Here is the problem: Some OS (certain Android versions) do NOT allow/do the redirect from the “lightweight login browser” to the full browser.
A limit in the “lightweigth browsers” reduced functionality. Might change in future for Android, I suspect, as it is a PITA for some hotspots.
iOS does this redir, though.
So, on my hotspots I display special info for the Andoid-users affected, to go manually to the not-redirected-to page.
Thanks for your reply. I realized this too but I thought maybe there is a solution.
Next problem is auto disconnect from this WiFi because there is no Internet connection. So Android Switch back to other WiFi or mobile Data.
Has anyone a workarround like DNS Simulation for this Problem?
Thanks
Yes.
I have hotspots, delivering local content only. But these are based on openwrt/LEDE.
Which contain such a special feature you are looking for
However, own developed firmware.
MT is too closed for such advanced features.
I think we both had already discussed about my problem on upworks… maybe you remember
Now I am one step further… not using UBT anymore and take a mikrotik.
I do not remember, sorry. Although I am on upwork, too, several completed projects are on freelancer.
Allso containing, what you still want to achieve. Both UBT and MT are the wrong tools for that.
