First, it’s my first post here, and I’ve searched for these answers to no avail, thanks to bare with me as I know a little about networking but I’m just beginning with Mikrotik products.
So I just got a Metal 52 AC in hopes I could get this bridge setup working:
“Non-Mikrotik ISP Modem/Router-AP” → wireless → Metal52 → unmanaged switch (TP-Link) → computer, xbox and Apple TV
I ran the Quickset PTP Bridge, manage to get a strong signal from the ISP’s router, and get the computer to connect perfectly.
Three questions:
1 - I can only manage to get the computer to get an IP. Is it possible that the Metal 52 can only bridge one IP in pseudobridge station mode?
2- Following question 1, if I plug the Metal 52 directly to the Apple TV or Xbox, they don’t get an IP either. Even if I reset configuration and plug them straight away, they don’t get
an IP. If I plug the network cable straight to the computer, it gets its IP automatically, and if I plug it back to the switch too. Am I on the right path thinking it has more to do with
the ISP’s router than the Metal52 itself?
3 - And last, I promise. If I get an hAP AC or hAP AC Lite to plug to the Metal 52, will it solve my problem as it will manage IP assign more easily than plugging an unmanaged switch?
Thanks a lot for helping me!
