Sizing Question

Hello,

i currently use the RB1000 as core router for my isp network. i am using about 500 queues for my users and pppoe, all is running on this rb1000.

the average utilization is on 50 percent. now i want to use packet marking for priorization and queue tree to optimize the flow.

should i use mikrotik on pc hardware ?

For performance is better a x86.. And rb1000 is “eol” now…

On the other hand going from simple queues to queue trees (especially PCQ type queues) is easier on the router, so depending on your exact configuration you may even see less resource usage.
