Sizing

Hello,

i have a hotspot (setup a month ago) with expected load 500-700 concurrent users. Customer had a RB850Gx2 which i decided to use for a while. Now with around 80 people connected on the network i have loading issues (trying to get ip) on mobile devices. I was thinking to move to RB3011 but probably i will have issues on heavy load days. So next scenario is to move to CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+. I would like to hear some opinions if possible

Just to know that the setup includes 3 different subnets. 1 for admin (5 devices), 1 for office use (POS 10-15 devices) and 1 for guest wifi (500-700 smart devices)

Thanks in advance.

No one knows!!!..

admin - /29, office - /27, guests - /22. Don’t know why everybody are silent

Is he asking for subnets masks or for advice if particular model of Mikrotik is sufficient?

I am asking for advise for particular model. Nothing to do with the subnet size. Just the total capacity (concurrent users) for the models mentioned.

Very interested in answer  For smallest model.

I think you should start with something that you have, i.e. utilization of current router.

Also, not knowing the size of area for the 500 - 700 people, and you have not mentioned what AP’s you have, you might need to look into that also as you might need some high density AP’s

I am using 2 Ruckus T300 in open space but my opinion this is irrelevant with my question. Keep MAC/IP addresses in routing tables and router’s throughput hasn’t anything to do with the wireless coverage.

Well the OP “…loading issues (trying to get ip) on mobile devices…” does not really give a lot of info about the problem / symptoms, but I wish you well in your search…
