My normal setup looks like this: PC —(cable A or B)–> EasyBox → VDSL (25MBit)
Speed test: http://i.imgur.com/U4g6iMk.png (uses full 25mbit)
I want to run a setup like this: PC —(cable B)–> RB750Gr2 —(cable A)–> EasyBox → VDSL (25MBit)
Speed test: http://i.imgur.com/3ODQP19.png (spikes to 5 momentarily, drops to 3, inconsistent)
As you can see, that is pretty atrocious. Notable to me is that it occasionally manages to reach higher speeds at the start and then drops off, as well as the fact that upload is faster than download. The latter is consistent (although it may be an artefact of speedof.me, given that dumeter claims they’re the same).
The speed tests are also replicated with a cellphone connected to a wifi ap connected to the hex.
The hardware involved:
- http://routerboard.com/RB750Gr2 (factory configuration, updated firmware and routeros)
- EasyBox 803 A (with modified configuration by Vodafone, WAN/QOS settings locked and invisible)
- hex is in the Easybox’ DMZ
Trying to fiddle with the Mikrotik ui i attempted:
- changing MTU (1492, 1500(default), 1522, 1540) - no difference
- changing line speed of internet interface to force: 10mbit half/full works, but is slow; anything above doesn’t work at all, no connectivity; automatic negotiation has the ui claim the interface is at 100mbit, but still is slow
I’m really grasping at sunbeams here, no idea what could be the issue. Any other obvious things i can try?
