I was having issues with my wireless connection speed, while searching the web for clues on where to look, I came across a few posts on this forum where other people were also having issues with slow wireless connection speeds but no ideas on what was causing the problems or how to fix them. Below is a short description of the issues I was having and how I resolved them.
I’ve got a cAP 2n access point, which after a little trial and error setting up, was working really well until the beginning of last week. I started having serious speed issues on the network, running tests to speedtest.net over wireless I was only getting download speeds of around 2 to 3 Mbps. Tests run on a wired connection were getting around 37 Mbps so I was pretty sure it was an issue with my wireless. Nothing in the network configuration had changed so I was pretty confused as to why it changed all of a sudden. Rebooting the access point didn’t help. Turns out that the poor wireless performance was caused by interference from my laser printer, even though the access point is about two meters away from the printer. After turning the printer off, I was getting download speeds of 37 Mbps.
