Scenario, Mikrotik running as PPPOE AC, users : 1500*, authentication method : radius , Queues : users + 4, Vlans : 8, PPPOE-Server on each vlans, Natting rules : 10*, Mangle rule : 2 + MSS, HW : CCR-1036-8g, Bandwidth : 1200-1400mbps
I got complaints about slow speed. I checked the cpu usage it was hovering aroudn 90% up and down 10%.
I reduced the natting rules to one using address-list : Result CPU got down to somewhat acceptable 50%* but complaints unresolved.
Changed all the AV in radius to reduce the queues with PCQ cpu got down to 20-30% but complaints unresolved.
Changed the h/w to x86 dell R-220 with original settings (without pcq) problems gone. Traffic increased by 300-500mbps.
It seems MT h//w cannot scale when demands are heavy queues + natting etc otherwise things woulld have not solved by changing the h/w
Lots of versions were tested till latest.

no tested till 3.6 then moved over to x86 but I have more cases. Just upgraded ccr 1036 having some strange problem. Underplan to shift to x86
