If user wishes to remove IP address from interface on which is he currently connected , let Winbox asks him :
You are currently connected through that interface.
Do you really wish to remove/change that address ?
safe mode is meant for similar purpose. hit CTRL+X in Winbox’s terminal window, then if you do something like you described, ROS will restore the last action to restore your connectivity. Note that this will also work in Winbox visual interface, but the safe mode can currently only be enabled from winbox terminal.
