Small WISP project. (atleast for now)

Hello!

I need sever advices about Mikrotik.
My plan is next:
I’m having DSL connect at my home and I want to share it with other peoples in my town.
I live on the highest part of the town, and from my house I can see others all around…

I would like to set-up an HotSpot for them, what would be the best option for me?
I was thining about Omni so it goes all around my house.
Configuration would be like:
…>wlan1 - HotSpot login (with it’s own DHCP)
eth1(internet) > Router Board
…>eth2 - Home personal computers.

How should I setup everything running good?
and to have full monitoring on hotspot and home computers?

Also I’m interested is it possible to set-up HotSpot to show only to users that use IP from DHCP while other users who enter manualy an IP that isnt in DHCP can use normal?
I need that for an office network, or you have some better suggestion?

First, you have to consider the factors surrounding the project and analyze.

  1. How big is the town you want to cover?

Ans: If the town is like 200 meters radius round your house, then you can consider using an omni which can be mounted on a pole-mast of 50 feet, connected to an installed routerboard’s WLAN, then you connect. You then connect a LAN cable from your routerboard to the core network inside your room, probably running on mikrotik as well. After this you can do all necessary configurations as needed.

It seems better to install at least 3 LAN cards on the mikrotik server inside your house, wherein LAN1 connects to your DSL and LAN2 connects to your routerboard and LAN3 connects to the computers in your home.

In this scenario, your hotspot is enabled on the routerboard while your radius server can reside on the mikrotik server inside your house. All you need is the ip address to interact with.

Please, note that if your area of wireless coverage is beyond 200m, their are other solutions all you need is the specifics of your need.

Other wireless equipments that you can consider depending on your needs are Sectorial antennas, RF amplifiers, pigtails etc
