Smart UPS

I’m willing to put a Routerboard on a car so I need a UPS to power up the routerboard after the car engine is turned off, in order to provide enough time for the routerboard to shutdown properly.
The specs are:
12V DC input, 24V DC output and less than 15W power.
If anyone know of a UPS that I could use, it would be very helpful.
I’m using rb230.

Thanks

Greetings!

I use an automotive power supply for the computer in my car. It may have the functions you need (except the 24v) if you want to experiment. You will need to write a script to monitor the serial port so the box will know when to shut down.

It also has the ability to maintain 2a 12v output, even during engine crank.

If you take the RB433AH and take a batteri called “PS-1270” it’s 12V and 7Amp’s.
It will provide about 7-10hours of life on 1 batteri, but just set som more in parallel with the other batteri and you will get more life.
And they can be charged with your car’s generator…

How do you hook the battery to the routerboad?

Hi jordantrx!

I connect mine (indirectly) from the battery posts to the power input socket on the RouterBoard. I don’t use PoE. What I mean by “indirectly” is I use a low voltage disconnect and a 5A fuse inline also. Without the low voltage disconnect, you run a risk of burning up your RouterBoard if the battery voltage drops below 9 volts. And 10 volts on a lead-acid type battery is considered 100% discharged. Letting either drop below that, and there could be damage to both.

Hi, why do you want the hard way of live, keep it easy.
By yourself a 12V to 220V Powerconverter, plug it into your car, be happy.
