SMB issues

Hello,

I am using SMB file sharing with users and I found 2 problems that I cannot find the solution.

1.I have created a user for the local printer with read/write rights but it cannot “scan to shared folder” no matter what I do. The printer is hp officejet 8725. If i select a windows shared folder and setup the user credentials to HP, it connects ok. If I choose smb folder, NO.

2.when I access the smb shared folder at windows explorer and I choose to view the owner column of files and folders, nothing shows. Also when I right click the file/folder properties, there is no security tab.

I would appreciate any advice for these 2 problems, because I am new at router os and I don’t know what is the problem
thanks

I suppose has something to do with the SMB protocol used by Mikrotik.

Unfortunatelly no further information could be found anywhere, it’s a mystery !!

Which RouterOS version are you using?

It seems that many others have the same issue as you, check this thread:

Try to disable SMB2 and SMB3 in your printer.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to keep the modern protocol and disable SMB1 and SMB2? SMB1 is completely removed from Windows 10 these days because it’s so old and insecure.

That is what HP suggests in their support forum, not sure why
