SNMP issue when responding from different interface

Hello everyone,

I have issue with CCR1036-12G-4S v6.37.5 and v6.38.5 (although I have tried different versions too).

When sending SNMP request (get) to Mikrotik, it does not send SNMP response when it should respond from different interface.

For example I have usually SFP for uplink and when requests comes from that interface (even for IP that is on that same Mikrotik but on for example “management interface”), Mikrotik sends response.

But when request comes from “Management interface” and it should respond through SFP (change of routing, asymetric but allowed) there is no SNMP response from Mikrotik.

Is this “working as intended”? Is there some special rule preventing this?

I am sure of this behavour because packet capture on Mikrotik itself returns such results.

Thanks in forward,

Just wanted to post update: I have “solved” this issue with some NATting so I modify SNMP requests so they “always” come from same interface (or at least Mikrotik thinks that his neighbour is asking and responding to him)

So bottom problem remains, is this as intended or ?

UPDATED: received reply from Mirkotik support that this is “working as intented” at the moment. So either use NAT or “routing policy”
