Hello Dude community.
I wanted to share something I discovered that might be useful to other The Dude users.
Somewhere along the line, after upgrading The Dude to a newer version in the past, several of my SNMP type links between Cisco devices would randomly show up with the [Interface.xBitRate], as if SNMP was not properly configured on the devices being polled, and then return to normal (showing proper bit rates) after 10 seconds or so. Not that it’s a huge deal but it really frustrated me while I was trying to study several of my links utilization at the map level at the same time.
I searched and searched the board, and found a few posts discussing the issue, but it seemed like it wasn’t affecting many people, or it just wasn’t a big deal.
Anyhow, what fixed the issue for me (so far) is that I changed the “Tries” setting on all of my SNMP profiles under Settings / SNMP to 10. That number might be too high, but I’m not totally sure what “Tries” means, I just assume that it’s a retry counter of some kind that works together with a probe interval, though I’m uncertain of how they work together when displaying link information at the map level.
If you have this issue, play with the Tries setting and let us know how it goes.
Thanks for listening,
Dave
