Hi guys,
I’m wondering why i am probing using an SNMP OID and getting the correct result but when I use the tools>snmpwalk feature it fails to get anything even the same OID as the one that returns a result in a probe?
Hi guys,
I’m wondering why i am probing using an SNMP OID and getting the correct result but when I use the tools>snmpwalk feature it fails to get anything even the same OID as the one that returns a result in a probe?
It depends on the device.
Some dumb devices don’t implement the parts of SNMP that allow “walking” (I have a thermometer that can only be probed using an OID).
I’ve also had this trouble with AIX, I get about half of the MIB walked, but then strangely it stops.
It could be some sort of bug in IBM’s SNMP, or maybe theres some switch I need to turn on.
Maybe you can post some information about the device that is giving you trouble?
strangly though the mib OID im using is working in the SNMP test (returning accurate results) but when i try follow its path in the mib tree it doesnt exist, whats going on there?
the device is a network device we had built for us… but im trying to understand the dude side of it
