We install new router boards, usually 411AH, when AP’s and CPE’s break down. Been noticing a problem and wonder if anyone else has seen this or knows an answer. Our monitoring system is OpenNMS. The radio will off and on show that it is down on Open. If I winbox to the main router and attempt to telnet to it, I am unable to do so. If I disable then enable the binding, then I can both telnet to the radio and the ‘down’ condition clears on Open. The radio is still working the whole time. Several times I have attached to an AP that was ‘down’ and gone out over the Internet to look at Open and see that it (the radio that I was on) is down. Plus go to other sites, etc. This is really annoying. Have started noticing this about 4.0. And at least one of the main routers these radios go through has the latest OS. Ideas?
Thanks
Joe
If I disable then enable the binding,
Please post command you are using.
Not sure what you are asking here.
Your text.
If I disable then enable the binding, then I can both telnet to the radio and the ‘down’ condition clears on Open.
What is the command for “binding”?
An example of the info which I exported is:
/ip hotspot ip-binding
add address=10.0.10.40 comment=CORI-BEVERLY-2 disabled=no type=bypassed
In WinBox, I go to IP-Hotspot-IP Bindings, click on the radio, then on the right side of the box that pops up there is a ‘Disable’ button. I click on that button. It then greys out the radio in the IP Bindings box. The button in the popup now shows ‘Enable’. I click on it again, and the radio show active in the IP Bindings box. At this point, I can again both telnet and Mac-Telnet to the radio and OPenNMS will remove the Outage Message.
So most likely ip-binding didn’t work properly for your user and user is listed between /ip hotspot host as unauthorized.
Do you know approximate steps, how it is possible to “skip” ip-binding procedure?
I think you need to contact support (support@mikrotik.com).
Do not forget to add two support output files to your e-mail,
- first file generated at the moment client get HotSpot login page and SSH/Telnet does not work.
- second file generated at the moment client is back to normal operation.
Specify client IP/MAC-address.
