Is there any manual or good wiki for connecting RB 750 with PRTG call me whatever you want but everytime i tried to connect i get a error saying Error Message:“SNMPERR_UNKNOWN_ENG_ID (SNMP error # -32)” help pleasee, and thanks for your help..
How have you setup SNMP on the router and in PRTG at the moment? Can you post details of your existing configuration?
Hi.
Ok so we have some clients that we do a vpn tunnel to our offices, on the mikrotik side i have:
IP> SNMP >
Name
ffice
Address: 207.X.X.X/24 (All my network)
On PRTG server side i only want to know the amount of bandwidth im using:
On the client>
Add sensor>
SNMP Traffic
I tried to do all the kind of sensors SNMPP has but nothing works.
I have a PRTG server and it is monitoring some miks without any problem. please let me know if u still have problems and we will find a solution for that.
Yes still having problems don’t know what am i doing wrong.
Okay,
First update your PRTG to latest version if you can (NOT necessary) but I strongly recommend you doing that. New version 8 has lots of good sensors and features and a new light-speed database system. http://www.paessler.com/prtg/download
If your security policies allow, mail me some detailed information of you config to mehrzud [at] yahoo [dot] com. I really need to know more details.
I can guaranty that your problem will be solved ASAP, of course only with your cooperation.
Hi do you still be able to help with the problem , im still having it but what information do you need to send you.
And sorry for the late response there where some other problems we had and we had to concentrate on those.
Hi,
We use PRTG (currently v8 since V6) to monitor a variety of Mikrotik kit (over 700 probes).
Although I have not encountered your particular error, the usual problem is that you have either not enabled the SNMP server on the RB unit (just setting the string and network is NOT enough, you need to click on settings inside the SNMP window and tick the ‘enable’ tickbox) or you have a bad route back to the PRTG server. This you can check with a trace from the RB to your PRTG server and see through which route you pass through.
Making sure you have a good route to the PRTG server should work.
Rgds,
Mark
