I am experiencing a problem while using socks4 proxy on RB/450 (Router OS 3.2) - I am using a NATed pppoe-connection whereby the proxy is accessed from the internal network.
Everything works fine, but large transfers (via ftp for example) stop after some time - is that a known issue or does anybody have an idea on that?
I was also not able to use the web-proxy for ftp-uploads (that’s why I tried socks4) - does anybody know, if that it possible? I wasn’t able to figure out, which option to use (USER user@site …) in my ftp-client application. The web proxy works perfectly for normal browsing (eg. http).
Yap - I also upgraded to 4.0Beta1 - unfort. that didn’t solve the problem. I also checked, that this is not related to my internet connection - so when I do a large filetransfer by bypassing the proxy, it works fine.
I feel, that this is related to the socks proxy - unfor. I was not able to get my ftp client to work with the web proxy, that’s why I tried socks 4 proxy.
There is a “Connection idle timeout” within the socks proxy settings - that is preset to 2 mins - that was exactly the time, after which the connection was dropped (which I realized by coincidence).
So even, when there is a running ftp transfer via socks, it dropped it after 2mins - now with a “day timeout”, it works like a charm!
