Hi, I’m kinda new to mikrotik wireless, I’ve had a 25 mile link using RB433’s and XR5’s, its been doing fine until recently when the actual TCP throughput has dropped from 20 megs to 4-5 megs, while the signal and noise floor remains the same. Someone the ubiquiti forum said the updated OS software fixes the problem. Question: HOW do I update the software? Is there an easy procedure? The current version is v3.15. I tried drag and dropping it to the “Files” folder, but nothing. Someone said the “Dude” software does it, but I can’t find how to upgrade it that way either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
You could also have an interference problem. The chip sets are limited in what they “see” and many modulations will not show up. Also look for lower then normal signal strength, high CCQ and do a usage scan. If any of these are not normal it is likely interference rather then a software issue.
update: Ugrading from v3.15 to v3.28 TRIPPLED actual TCP throughput! At a total of 35 miles (1 10mi link to 1 25mi link) I can now push 32+ REAL mbps throughput! Results before were around 10-12 Mbps…
