[SOLVED] Cannot connect to RB5009 V7.16

After a configuration reset with no default configuration I am not able to connect to it anymore.

I do know that RB5009 has a default admin password printed on its back and it is not the “usual” empty password.

I have been running successfully WinBox until now, but what is happening now is that it won’t let me in with a “ERR: Could not connect. Mac connect syn timeout”.

I have also tried the reset button for both “backup router boot” (<3 sec) and “reset config” (flashing led).

No way to login, neither with printed password nor with empty one .
Now what? Any hint?

Have you tried/are you familiair with netinstall?

Nope. Is this the one and only option left?

I have my PC (and a bunch of other devices) linked to another Mikrotik switch, where also the RB5009 is attached.

Is there any risk I netinstall the wrong device? Or shall I run netinstall on a PC directly linked to the RB5009?

You can’t netinstall the wrong device, device has to be put in netinstall mode for that.

However I’d recommned you to do direct connections … netinstall is a pretty fragile process and you don’t want other traffic (possibly triggering dropped frames in ethernet network) to mess with the process.

Netinstall is not easy. But in the end it worked out.
