SOLVED: Newbe question RB500

Hello,

Just obtained a RB500 and i am browsing the forum the whole day without making any progress.

My Eth1 port is connected to my router (ip 10.0.0.138) that should be the DNS and gateway ip to be used in the RB500.
I want my Wlan address to be 10.0.0.171 and connects to the eth1 port.

Just like a simple hotspot.

Please do not flame me, i have searched.
I’m not afraid to read stuff but if you want pse guide me in the good direction.

I am configuring from a Hard reset so th RB500 is factory default flashed with routeros-mipsle-5.2.npk

Hope i can get some assistance.

Regards,
Ferry

With connect, you mean bridged? I assume that.

Create a bridge, and then assign both ethernet port 1 and wireless network interface card to that bridge.

Add an IP address to that bridge, and remove the other IP adresses.

If that’s not what you want, please be more specific of your needs.

Sorry for beeing a totall n00b.

Got my Thomson Speedtouch running on ADSL, i want the RB500 to get an IP via that modem and share it on wifi.
Now i can connect to my AP but it does not translate gateway or DNS server (wich is 10.0.0.138)

Again, sorry, i am totally stucked… do not howto bridge and so on.

My hope was someone who want to go step by step from the begining.

Getting to old for this

Okey, you want your RB500 to act as a regular broadband router with wireless. I’m not familiar of how this unit is configured after a complete reset. I read the user manual from the makers homepage, and found nothing about this. It would be easier to guide you step by step if we know the default setup.

Edit: This guide is a good start.

Okay,

In my case the RB500 (also got a RB112 both same problems) is after the Hub.
I can make a Static config, however the Router does not tell it’s connected clients to make use of the DSL modems internal IP.

Please be kind, got 2 strokes last year… before that i was an network engineer but lost 99% of my knowledge.

Solved it

Had to make 2 bridges for each port one, after that it worked.
