check device architecture and download appropropiate .npk file. Open Winbox/files drag and drop npk file into main file menu, reboot device. No upgrade has taken place. Tried both Wbox versions (3&4).
Also tried /system package update set channel=testing, drag drop .npk file into files and reboot. Still no change.
The device can be updated automatically with an internet connection, however it’s an LTE device and that would mean having to load more data on the SIM. I would prefer to update it manually since it’s supposedly capable of it.
OK, thanks. I think I see where I went wrong. I needed to download the wifi-qcom and routeros packages and drag/drop both into files.
For some reason I thought the routeros npk file would call up the wifi-qcom package, or it would come as part of the routeros package. Didn’t the previous wireless packages come as part of routeros back in the AC/N days? I seem to recall something changed around v7.13, maybe that was it.
Anyway, I’ll give it a go. Thanks for your help! Cheers.
If you want to use offline route, where do you think it needs to come from then ?
You need to provide it as well.
It's the same situation when you netinstall. You need to make sure all required packages are available for netinstall (e.g. wifi-qcom) or you might end up with a device with only partial functionality.
And then they come complaining here it doesn't work
Lol. Yeah. Though I was more confused because I’m sure it had worked previously, perhaps it was prior to v7.13. I certainly wasn’t complaining. Thanks for your further explanation, much appreciated. Cheers.
You remember right.
Prior to 7.13 base hooks and drivers for legacy wireless/capsman were present in main ROS package.
As of 7.13 base ROS package was modified splitting out everything wifi/wireless.
Base hooks for wave2 capsman were included instead of legacy, that's why on a non-wifi device you can use it now as capsman controller for wave2 devices without needing wifi-qcom.
