I am new to Mikrotik. I have a few questions. If anyone can help out, I would appreciate it. I prefer using webfig, but any method to get things done is ok with me.
is there a way to assign the router a name that will show up during a network scan?
is there a way to assign static dns (I like to use google’s)
is there a basic good firewall I can use to get started?
can I create a “master image” for the router and use it to clone other routers if they are of the same model #?
is there a way to use domain names instead of ip addresses for ntp servers?
are there “skins” like in dd-wrt?
I am trying to just get a few routers going with the basic settings and a secure firewall, and then I am going to learn step by step from there. I have already researched for many hours, and I am just looking for some input from those who have already done this. I come from a ddwrt background, which I have used for years, but I was turing on to Mikrotik by a distributor and I like everything about it. Thanks for any help you can give.
