Hi, due to the maddening unreliability of the CCR 1036 (constant power source failures, no matter the color of capacitors), I have to keep several spares. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to connect a spare router behind the production one and have current backups automatically restored on the spare one, so the next time the power source goes down, I can just ask the guy in the server room to reconnect all cables to the second mikrotik, that already has the current setup ready.
- Is it even possible? When i restore from .backup file, also the mac addresses get restored, this means I would have to connected two routers with same MAC address sets?
- If it is possible, can someone (smarter than me) please suggest how to achieve that from a networking point of view? (I am sure I can take care of the automatic restoration part, I am already backing up the configs several times a day to one of my vmware guests).

Should be noted I have considered some “HA” options, but after reading this (http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/esxi-6-5-mikrotik-link-aggregation/113888/1), I have decided this might by still above my current capabilities ![]()
