Speed problems on EOIP tunnel

Hi,

I’ve got 4 RB433AH’s strung together like so:

Site A — 802.11N Link — AP1 — ether1 — ether2 — AP2 — 802.11N Link — Site B
10.200.0.1/30 ---------------------------EOIP---------------------------------- 10.200.0.2/30

I did see some talk about setting the MTU for speed probs. MTU on Site A & Site B ether1 is set to 1480, the rest of the links are 1500.

Throughput on the ether1 - ether2 link is 70+ Mb/s
Radio links get 100+ Mb/s - BUT -

Now I only get ~ 20 Mb/s over the EOIP. Nothing fancy, just EOIP tunnel and bridge to ethernet at Site A & Site B.

How can I get the speed up to something reasonable?

Thanks in advance,

-jim

Encrypted tunnels takes a lot of CPU power. I have a similar configuration and it was set to “encryption-default”. I don’t know if encryption is default, or if someone else set it to encrypt traffic. In my case I don’t need encryption, so I changed the profile to “default”, which is not encrypted.

Are you sure that you need to set MTU to 1480 on ether1?

I also don’t understand why to set the MTU to 1480.

Haven’t You tried MPLS instead of eoip?

Thanx mxena

I was unable to find solution for slow traffic over eoip.
After moving to mpls speed changed from 200kb/s to 3.6mb/s
