Hello
We have a fairly large number of RB500 boards (of various hardware rev. and with the latest few versions of ROS) in outdoor operation. Recently, we have noticed an increase in failures, where a replace is necessary. This is not very convenient, as they are often not very accessible ![]()
The problem is almost always, that a board (which has been in operation without problems for a longer time) suddently starts rebooting with short intervals. Sometimes it is related to a soft-update, and sometimes not. However, the only fix we know, is to take the board down and reinstall ALL soft (also firmware). After this, 90 % of the boards are usable again.
Again today, we had a malfunctioning RB. As everytime, I was looking for a solution before the climbing decision, and I stumbled over a small thing. In System-Watchdog, I noticed that âWatchdog timerâ was on. I checked a number of other routers, and they were all the same.
Checking the manual: âwatchdog-timer (yes | no; default: no) - whether to reboot if system is unresponsive for a minuteâ
As Iâm sure, that I never enabled this option on any of the routers, I gave it a try. I disabled the option, and instantly the router began working normally again.
To me, it looks like this option has become a âdefault: yesâ in some ROS revision. And it looks like it has a bug.
Anybody with a similar experience ???
